Vila Velha wants to bring the investment of U.S. $ 700 million (R$ 1.26 billion) that Chery will make in Brazil until 2012 for the Espirito Santo. A delegation led by Mayor Neucimar Fraga and the Municipal Secretary of Development, Octaciano Neto, embarks on October 21 for China and the 30th in Shanghai, meet with the chairman of GM, Yin Tongyao.
"The Chinese have said they would build a plant in Brazil and want to set the location until early 2010. Vila Velha will be the first municipality in Brazil to seek the representatives of Chery," said Octaciano.
In July, during the official visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to China, representatives confirmed that the automaker Chery will build a factory in Brazil with capacity to produce 150 thousand vehicles a year. On occasion, representatives of Chery said the factory was deciding for Sao Paulo, Rio, Minas Gerais and Ceará, and the start of work would be scheduled for 2010.
According to him, a document with all the features and advantages of Vila Velha, translated into Mandarin, will be delivered to the chairman of Chery. "We will show that the Espirito Santo is less than 1000 kilometers of the largest consumer markets of Brazil, which has a very good operation of railways, roads and ports, and is the major producer of steel." Additionally, we will present the progarm of tax incentives offered by the government state offered to companies to locate here."
Octaciano Neto revealed that the municipality will provide an area along the BR 101, known as Seringal, for the installation of the automaker. "It's a rural area, and if Chery really comes, it will not cause significant impacts to the environment and to the population."
Chery, one of the largest automakers in China, launched early last month the utility vehicle Tiggo, manufactured in Uruguay.
